The international Day of Cooperatives is celebrated annually on the first Saturday of July. The 2021 International day of Cooperatives was celebrated on 3 July with the theme “Rebuilt better together”. As usual Cooperatives over the world showcase their efforts in coping with Covid-19 pandemic with solidarity, resilience and offering communities considering a people-centered and environmentally recovery effort.

In line with the United Nations International Day of Cooperatives which aims at increasing awareness on Cooperatives, The federal Department of Cooperatives sends its Staff members to attend the event held in Abuja to bless the occasion.

In similar vein the Minter of Agriculture and Rural Development, Alhaji Sani Nanono assures FG’s support to Cooperative movement in Nigeria. He also stated that; “I wish to congratulate the over 1 billion cooperators belonging to 3 Million Cooperative Societies across the World on the special occasion of the 99th International Cooperative Day which also is the 27th UN International Day of Cooperatives. I particularly like to felicitate with the Nigerian Cooperative Movement, the African Region of the International Cooperative Alliance and the Global International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) on the International Cooperative Day that takes place on the first Saturday of the month of July every year”.
